In the Ashtanga tradition, moon days are observed as days of rest from physical practice, honoring the natural rhythm of the body and mind. Traditionally, practitioners pause on both new moon and full moon days, using this time for reflection, meditation, pranayama, or simply slowing down. The idea is that the energy of these lunar phases can affect us more strongly, so rather than pushing through with intense asana practice, we take space to turn inward and cultivate awareness.
